Registering or transferring a domain through SetCloud requests WHOIS privacy automatically — there’s no add-on to buy and nothing to opt into at checkout. It’s on by default for every domain that supports it.

A small number of extensions don’t support privacy at the registry level. For those, the domain registers normally and the toggle below is unavailable; the domain’s page tells you when this applies.

The per-domain toggle

Open the domain under Domains and go to its Security tab. Privacy defaults to on; flip it off there if you need the domain’s public record to show your own contact details — for a business listing that requires it, for example. Allow time for registry and public lookup data to update after changing it.

What the public record shows

  • Privacy on (default): the public WHOIS record shows proxy contact details instead of yours.
  • Privacy off: the public record shows the contact details on file for the domain.

Neither setting changes who owns the domain or who can manage it in the dashboard — it only changes what’s published in the public WHOIS lookup.
