What a spend cap is
Every new account starts with a $50 monthly spend cap and auto-pause turned on. If you’d rather not have a cap, remove it — existing accounts from before this feature are left exactly as they were.
What a cap pauses
Hitting 100% of your cap with auto-pause on stops two things:
- The AI Gateway — both the
/v1API and the playground. - Agents, tasks, and schedules — the autonomous compute surface.
It never pauses hosting — your web apps, databases, secrets, static sites, and CDN keep running as long as your balance is above $0. A spend cap manages runaway AI and agent usage; it isn’t a way to take a site offline.
Where to set it
Billing & Credits → Spend budget. Enter a monthly dollar amount, or leave it blank for no cap, and choose whether reaching 100% pauses usage automatically.
When a cap trips
At 100%, AI requests and agent task or scheduled runs start failing until you act. Two ways to resume:
- Raise the cap.
- Remove the cap or disable auto-pause. A top-up alone does not change the cap.
Changes are reconciled in the background. In-flight work and delayed usage reports can exceed the budget; it is not a hard maximum bill.
