Bring your own agent runtime

Most clients can start with a dashboard agent: their instructions, knowledge, tools, and automations. Use Agents → Custom code → Import repository when you need to deploy and operate your own runtime. SetCloud does not supply agent templates or prewritten instructions.

Repository and build

Grant the GitHub connection access to your repository. Review the detected build and runtime settings before deploying. Custom serverless agents need a compatible Node.js runtime and a build that produces .output/server/index.mjs; an arbitrary repository does not become a compatible agent just by importing it.

Keep your agent configuration in agent/setcloud.json. Where your runtime supports repository schedules, store Markdown files under agent/schedules/:

---
cron: "0 9 * * 1-5"
---

Summarize the updates from the sources configured for this agent.

Use the custom-code workspace to edit configuration and schedules. Repository changes are committed and require a successful deployment to take effect. This is separate from dashboard-agent automations, which use a frequency and time zone.

Credentials and state

Link application credentials through Secrets Vault. SetCloud supplies the runtime’s gateway and managed-database bindings. Do not copy platform-managed tokens or database passwords into source or expose them to a browser. Your runtime is responsible for authenticating incoming requests, restricting tool actions, and writing conversation checkpoints. A database binding alone does not make arbitrary code durable or automatically resume a workflow.

Operations and costs

Inspect deployments and logs in the custom-code workspace. Optional always-warm keeps reserved capacity available and incurs charges while enabled. Without it, idle execution scales to zero, but stored data and linked services can still bill. Custom code adds build, request, execution, and optional warm-capacity charges to model usage and database storage. See current pricing.
